EATit uses Google Gemini AI to read menus and answer your questions. Menu photos and dish text are sent to Google for processing. We never sell your data.
Menu understanding: after your device reads the text on a scanned menu, the text (and, when on-device reading fails, the menu image) is sent to our servers and to Google Gemini AI to structure it into sections, dishes, prices, and dietary tags.
Diet chat: your chat messages, your diet profile when you apply it, and the menu being discussed are sent to Google Gemini AI to produce the answer.
Dish images: when no real photo of a dish exists, an AI image may be generated from the dish name. These images are clearly labelled "Illustrative · AI" and carry industry-standard content-provenance (C2PA) metadata.
Before the first AI feature runs, EATit shows a disclosure and asks you to accept it. Your acceptance and its date are stored with your account. AI features stay off until you accept.
Your photos are never used to train AI models unless you separately opt in (off by default).
AI output can be wrong. Dishes, prices, tags, and chat answers are best-effort interpretations of an imperfect source — treat them as guidance, and see the Allergy Disclaimer for anything health-related.
